The Unannounced Grand Opening of Misi Pasta Wine Bar in Williamsburg

Living in Williamsburg over the past seven years has its perks, one being the privilege of stumbling upon hidden gems right in the neighborhood. August 21, 2023, was a day that exemplified this, as our Found of Functional Creative Design noticed a new storefront on Grand Street accompanied by a busy woman who always seemed to be on the phone. Curiosity piqued, a simple inquiry led the revelation that the place was none other than the Misi Pasta Wine Bar, and it was set to have an unannounced opening that very evening.

Eager to explore this newfound culinary treasure, a visit was in order. Arriving at the venue the initial intention was to find an available seat at the bar. Lo and behold, fate had a delightful surprise in store. The familiar women, turned out to be none other than Chef Missy Robbins herself. Engaging in conversation, it became evident that the warmth and hospitality that characterized her interactions were genuine reflection of her personality.

What was extremely heartwarming, was Chef Missy Robbins interaction with each person who walked into her newly crafted space. A warm smile and heartfelt welcome were extend to all, a gesture that didn’t go unnoticed. This gesture, in itself, encapsulated the spirt of Williamsburg - a true neighborhood where genuine connections are made, even in bustling City like New York.

Delving into the details of the interior design, the space exudes a timeless yet functional aura. The presence of a simple yet elegant mosque white floor with sprinkle of terracotta-colored porcelain tiles sets the tone right from the entrance. The same terracotta hue graces the shades of entrance light fixture and the staffs uniforms, creating a harmonious visual thread. Immaculate custom oak millwork spans the length of the bar area, concealing integrated lighting that both illuminates and accentuates.

The space isn’t just a place to dine; it’s a curated experience. A well laid out bar height seating at the entrance wraps around and flanks the pasta display, encouraging visitors to engage with fresh baguettes, sauces, pastas that are branded by Misi, along with imported butters - ingredients that beckon them to try to replicate their experience at home. For those seeking an immediate culinary journey, a spot on the waiting list promises a memorable experience.

The culinary adventure ensued with zucchini dish served chilled, infused with saffron - tantalizing prelude to the signature pasta dishes that adorn the menu. Accompanied by glass of refreshing white wine, truly hit the spot after long day at the office. Each dish was testament to Chef Missy Robbins culinary passion for creating memorable experiences.

From start to finish, the entire experience felt welcoming and invigorating. A hidden treasure, waiting to be uncovered by Manhattanites willing to cross the bridge, the Misi Pasta Wine Bar encapsulates the essence of Williamsburg - a community, a culinary journey and a haven of hospitality. Truly, a rating of 10 out of 10 doesn’t suffice; it’s an experience that merits its place in every food lover’s must-try list.
